      Common troubles and troubleshooting of feed extruder

      Some failures often occur during the operation of the feed extruder. Specifically, there are the following situations:

      1. No discharge at the outlet of extruder chamber during soybean processing

      Cause: too much feeding in a short time, resulting in blockage.

      Troubleshooting: reduce the feeding speed.

      2. There are bean petals in the extruded soybean powder during soybean processing

      Cause: the raw materials have not been crushed or the crushed particles are too large, and the sieve pieces are leaked or damaged.

      Troubleshooting: check the crusher and replace it with a new screen.

      3. The temperature in the extruder chamber cannot reach the required rated temperature

      Cause: the proportioning diameter of the pressure ring is too small or the amount of steam added is insufficient, the tempering temperature is too low, or the pressure ring or screw head is worn。

      Troubleshooting: change to a larger pressure ring or increase the quenching and tempering temperature. The temperature of the material after quenching and tempering should be 80 ℃ -90 ℃. Maintain the oil level in the expansion chamber jacket: the first surface temperature is 60 ℃, the second surface temperature is 100 ℃, the third surface temperature is 125 ℃, and the fourth surface temperature is 145 ℃.

      4. When processing powdery extruded material, the material cannot be discharged due to blockage or paste thinner

      Cause: the pressure of water supply and steam is too small or too large, and the amount of steam is too small.

      Troubleshooting: adjust the water or steam pressure.

      5. Production decline, unable to reach production capacity

      Cause: the conical pressure ring or wear ring is worn, or the screw head is severely worn.

      Troubleshooting: replace the worn parts.

      6. Sudden non discharge during normal operation

      Cause: 1) too much material is fed in a short time. 2) The discharge hole is blocked by foreign matters.

      Troubleshooting: 1) slow down the feeding speed. 2) Shut down, disassemble and clean.

      7. The diameter of extruded particles is too large or too small

      Cause: the discharge end mold hole is too large or too small.

      Troubleshooting: configure the appropriate size of the discharge die hole as required.

      8. When processing soybean, the expanded soybean powder is back sprayed from the feed inlet

      Cause: 1) too fast and too much feeding. 2) Discharge blockage. 3) The screw head and pressure ring are improperly configured. 4) The expansion chamber is seriously worn.

      Troubleshooting: control the feeding speed and amount, and adjust the distance between the discharge plug and the conical nail at the shaft end according to the requirements of fault 1; Reassemble after inspection and replace with a new expansion chamber.

      9. The product is blocked before being discharged from the die hole

      Cause: 1) the particle size of raw materials is too large compared with the die hole size. 2) Insufficient water makes the material flow. 3) The structure layout of extrusion chamber is unreasonable. 4) The pressure ring diameter may be too large.

      Troubleshooting: 1) crush to appropriate fineness. 2) Add water at the initial stage when the product enters the expanded cylinder. 3) Arrange the pressure ring and screw head in a reasonable way. 4) Replace the pressure ring with a smaller diameter.

      10. Poor product formation (piglet feed)

      Cause: 1) improper raw material formula. 2) The temperature is too high or too low during processing. 3) The amount of materials entering is variable (sometimes large or small). 4) The moisture content of the product is too high or too low. 5) The blade is worn (poor cutting effect). 6) The crushing particle size of raw materials is too large.

      Troubleshooting: 1) change the original formula. 2) Adjust the tempering temperature and steam inlet. 3) Adjust the quenched and tempered paddle to make the materials enter evenly. 4) Reduce or increase the amount of water and steam added. 5) Replace the cutting blade. 6) Crush the raw materials to the proper particle size.
